IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”.

This role offers the opportunity to design and institutionalize the operational commercial control environment of a growing PGM mining operation transitioning toward production maturity. The successful candidate will play a central role in protecting value, strengthening governance, and elevating the Company’s commercial discipline.

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Postgraduate diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Master's in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (Advantageous)
  • Registered professional with SACQSP
  • Cost Engineering, Financial & Project Management (programme/Training)
  • Contract Law & Advanced Cost Control courses (Advantageous)

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  • Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in mining, heavy industrial or infrastructure environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Manage commercial aspects of IVP operation, including cash flow, cost control, procurement, and contract administration
  • Verify monthly invoices and valuations through site quantity measurement prior to project manager approval
  • Facilitate contract correspondence and attend technical meetings
  • Develop and implement dashboards to track invoice approval and payment progress
  • Review bonds, indemnities, guarantees, and insurance documentation
  • Prepare extension of time (EoT) requests and variation orders in collaboration with project engineers
  • Conduct quarterly performance appraisals for external professionals and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Design and implement a formal operational commercial control framework.
  • Establish standardised certification protocols and documentation requirements.
  • Implement structured cost forecasting and variation tracking systems.
  • Develop operational cost dashboards aligned with Finance.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Advanced professional knowledge in cost engineering and contract management
  • Familiarity with GCC / FIDIC / NEC / JBCC conditions of contract
  • Proficient in financial management, procurement processes, and dashboard/reporting tools
