IVANHOE MINES DRC SARL (hereinafter “IMD SARL”) is a company operating in the Congolese mining sector, with offices in Lubumbashi (Province of Haut-Katanga) and the City-Province of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (hereinafter the “DRC”). IMD SARL is inviting qualified candidates, both male and female, who are interested in this position. The place of work will be located in Lubumbashi.

Manage relationships with the finance functions of Ivanhoe’s DRC entities, including working closely and providing guidance with Kamoa Copper, Kipushi and Sandton finance staff members who work on DRC entities.

Ensure compliance with DRC financial reporting requirements including annual preparation, review and sign off of the OHADA compliant statements. 

Assist the Tax department to comply with any requirements from the Tax authorities regarding financial information.

Assist with coaching and review of work performed by the accounting assistants. 

Assist the Financial Reporting team in the preparation of documents and discussions with the technical team acting on behalf of other shareholders (DRC, Gécamines, Stanvic and other). 

Assist the Financial reporting team in maintaining a good relationship between the minority shareholders of the Kamoa Copper (DRC Government), Kipushi (Gecamines) and west foreland entities (Stanvic, M.Biola, DRC Government and other).

 Participate in the conversion of Kamoa Copper and Kipushi’s primary accounting under the IFRS framework to primary accounting under the OHADA framework.

You will have the following:
  • Fluent in French and proficient in English
  • Accounting qualification (CA ONEC; ACCA, DEC, or equivalent)
  • Excellent experience and understanding of OHADA reporting requirements
  • Better understanding of IFRS standards applicable to the mining industry
  • Experience working on JDE

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to: 

Responsibilities of the Senior Financial Reporting:

  • Review and supervise the work performed by accounting assistants
  • Prepare monthly OHADA TB and GL;
  • Prepare on quarterly basis the OHADA Financial statements.
  • Regular (at least monthly) communication with on-site finance teams at Kamoa Copper and Kipushi including the review of the OHADA trial balance and GL.
  • Prepare of the OHADA financial statements and annual management reports for the Ivanhoe Mines DRC entities. 
  • Overall insight of the external audit process to ensure auditors report within agreed timelines 
  • Continued striving to automate and enhance the OHADA reporting process and continued review and updated of the French descriptions and account mapping.
  • Be involved in any other external financial reporting including the DRC Central Bank monthly report for the Directorate of Mines, Investment and Financing plan for the Directorate of Mines
  • DRC Board and Shareholder meeting:
  • Ensure that meetings are scheduled on time (in respect of OHADA Law requirements);
  • Ensure that all finance documents for the meeting are ready;
  • Organize and attend the finance harmonization meeting with other shareholders (Gecamines, the DRC Government, Stanvic and other) before the Board and Shareholder meetings when necessary;
  • Present the financial statements in the Board and Shareholder meetings when necessary. 
  • Other adhoc finance tasks including:
  • Input in preparation and review of annual budgets
  • Any additional tasks as need arises
